أثار انفراد "بوابة الوفد" الألكترونية بالإعلان عن تورط مسئولين كبار فى المجلس الأعلي للآثار في سرقة قطع أثرية خلال الثورة المصرية ردود فعل متباينة حول مدى مصداقيتها، الأمر الذي دفع البوابة لإجراء حوار مع نور الدين عبد الصمد مدير إدارة المواقع الأثرية للتأكيد على مصداقية ما نشرناه، خاصة وأن عبدالصمد تقدم ببلاغ للنائب العام اتهم فيه رئيس المجلس الأعلى للآثار زاهي حواس، ووزير الثقافة فاروق حسني وسوزان مبارك قرينة الرئيس المخلوع حسني مبارك بالتعاون مع منظمة صهيوامريكية مشبوهة لتدمير الآثار المصرية. وتضمن البلاغ الذي حمل رقم 1042 وجاء فى 75صفحة 29 جريمة ارتكبت في عهد زاهي حواس وفاروق حسني وأهمها صرف المليارات علي مشروعات وهمية وحاليا المجلس ميزانيته صفر، فضلا عن اختفاء 48 قطعة أثرية من المتحف المصري تبلغ قيمتها 1500 مليون دولار عام 2004 وتم تشكيل لجنة فنية لم تنته من التحقيقات حتي الآن وتم تعطيل القضاء لسبع سنوات بأياد خفية.
